The very best way to Tour the Banda Islands, taking bookings now!!
Spice Islands Forts and our sailing partners invite you to cruise these magical and incredibly historic islands aboard our traditionally built Phinisi schooner, making sail like the galleons of old.
Commencing November 2014, you can join us for a weeks touring, catching all the main sights of the Banda’s, sails billowing in the tropical breezes, the scent of spices wafting across the turquoise seas…
…magnificent fortresses, crumbling ruins, nutmeg plantations, colonial architecture, picturesque villages, superb underwater worlds to explore, spectacular landscapes to take in.
And rather than the hardships of the galleons of old, you can catch these world wonders in luxurious comfort; air-conditioned en-suite cabins, executive chef, divemaster, a seasoned skipper and dedicated crew, all at your service.
Twin cabins are priced at USD 6200, Doubles at USD 7800, and our Deluxe/ Family cabin at USD 9200, all inclusive for the seven night voyage.
Five cabins are available for individual bookings, or the entire vessel can be booked.
Our Banda Islands Tour starts and finishes in Ambon (travel to and from Ambon not included in the price), which can be reached easily from Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Itinerary is flexible, but – conditions permitting – will include diving/ snorkelling on the Run, Gunung Api and Hatta coral gardens, visits ashore to the main island, Bandaneira, as well as Run, Nailaka, and Banda Besar. Those keen can climb the 666m volcano for outstanding views. For those interested in inspecting the forts of the islands, a comprehensive tour will be provided, along with a look at a number of other interesting colonial buildings .
Lack of infrastructure, compounded by its remoteness can make Spice Islands touring hard work. But it doesn’t have to be so. Sailing with our Phinisi is really the only way to do the Banda Islands in comfort, safety and style.
For those with more time who want to see all the Spice Islands, that is the Banda’s and the North Molucca’s, we can arrange a full charter taking in both island groups, arriving via Ambon and departing from Ternate. Such a voyage covers over 500 nautical miles and needs a minimum of two weeks.
Either option combines historic architectural heritage with spectacular tropical scenery; a Banda Islands Tour or a full Spice Islands Tour could well be the trip of a lifetime.
